> From the WeatherWatch archives

More rain warnings have been issued for the South Island’s West Coast.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says trampers and campers in the area should be well aware of the torrential rain predicted for the area.

MetService says some regions may get up to 200mm in just 24 hours, while others will see up to 150mm in 15 hours.

Heavy rain is predicted to fall 50kms east of the main divide affecting rivers that flow eastwards into the Pacific Ocean.

Thunderstorms are also possible.

All the warnings can be found here.
