Saturday’s national forecast – Unsettled

An area of low pressure situated to the west brings in unsettled wet weather today, Canterbury southwards in the east is dry but showers eventually push in from the north for Canterbury then turning to rain this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty Showers and a few sunny spells, morning rain for Waikato and Bay Of Plenty eases. Showers in the afternoon may be heavy in spots with a chance of thunder then easing in the evening. Northerlies tend northwest after midday.
Highs: 14 – 16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy with showers, rain for a time in the morning. In the evening conditions may dry out. Easterlies.
Highs: 10 – 15

Eastern North Island

Rain, heavy for East Cape and perhaps Giborne then easing in the afternoon. At night heavy rain may move back in again for East Cape through to Hawkes Bay. Breezy northeasterlies ease changing to the south overnight north of Napier.
Highs: 13 – 15

Wellington

Cloudy with patchy rain or showers, easterly winds.
Highs: 12 – 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Rain, Nelson may have the odd heavy fall. Easing from afternoon then clearing in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 11 – 13

Canterbury

Partly cloudy, showers push down from the north in the afternoon then expect some evening rain. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 6 – 12

West Coast

Showers, especially morning and again later in the day. Light easterly quarter winds.
Highs: 12 – 15

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, cloud thickens later in the day for Otago, overnight showers push in from the north. Light winds for most, northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 7 – 12
