Most regions see rain or showers today thanks to a few fronts and some low pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers develop in the morning as southwesterlies freshen, clearing late afternoon or evening with sun breaking through. Rain feeds into Northland from the northwest around midday, clearing evening.
Highs: 16 – 18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain or showers then afternoon sunny spells, westerlies ease perhaps tending to the south around midday, southeast at night.
Highs: 13 – 17

Eastern North Island

Sun at first, southerlies freshen for Wairarapa this morning then further north during the afternoon, showers eventually moving in too. Rain possible overnight north of Napier.
Highs: 18 – 22

Wellington

Sun at first then cloud thickens with southerlies freshening, drizzle or a few showers from afternoon.
Highs: 13 – 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning sunny spells, a few isolated showers develop in the afternoon. Overnight showers pick up for Nelson and especially Tasman. Southerlies develop in the morning for Marlborough, northerlies in the afternoon for Nelson then changing to the south overnight.
Highs: 14 – 17

Canterbury

Showers develop in the morning, easing in the afternoon, clearing at night. Snow flurries to 800 or perhaps 700m. Southeasterlies ease tending light easterly by evening.
Highs: 10 – 14

West Coast

Morning cloud with the odd shower, sunny spells develop in the afternoon with a few isolated showers remaining about the ranges, clearing at night. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12 – 16

Southland & Otago
Cloudy periods with the odd shower, clearing late afternoon or evening for Southland. Otago sees showers pick up late afternoon, clearing at night. Snow flurries to about 700m, perhaps a touch lower for Southland. Southwesterlies die out in the evening.
Highs: 10 – 13
