Saturday’s national forecast – More unsettled weather

A humid airmass still lies over the North Island today meanwhile expect cooler southerlies further south. More rain or showers for most.

North Island

Mostly cloudy with rain or showers, Auckland and Northland are dry this morning though with some sun. This afternoon showers becoming heavy for some with a chance of isolated thunderstorms, Auckland and Northland have a chance of heavy isolated showers in the afternoon also. Winds are mostly light and conditions quite humid, southerlies start to build about the lower North Island during the day though with strong southerlies moving into Cook Strait.

South Island

Rain about Southland and Otago eases this morning to showers then clearing and sunny areas breaking through, southeasterlies tend to the east this afternoon. Rain spreading through Canterbury this morning from the south, rain may be heavy especially about the Kaikoura area from afternoon. Buller, Nelson and Marlborough are cloudy today with rain or showers. Further south along the West Coat expect a few spits or showers this morning then sunny areas breaking through.
