Saturday’s national forecast – High starts moving away

A large high that sat over us yesterday is starting to move away to the east, a northerly airflow develops over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, Bay Of Plenty should be mostly sunny then expect evening cloud there. Coromandel up through to eastern Northland has the odd shower at times. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16 – 18


Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, light winds.
Highs: 15 – 19


Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy, a few light showers, clearing Hawkes Bay in the afternoon with sun breaking through but not clearing Gisborne till evening. Wairarapa has morning cloud then sun. Winds from the northeast, southeast for Gisborne. 
Highs: 16 – 19


Wellington
Sunny, northerly winds.
Highs: 16 – 19


Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 16 – 20


Canterbury
Sunny, east to northeasterly winds freshen across the plains from afternoon.
Highs: 17 – 20


West Coast
Mostly sunny, a touch of high cloud especially for South Westland. From evening mid level cloud starts to increase, overnight expect a few showers south of Greymouth. Northeasterlies, strengthening for coastal Fiordland.
Highs: 16 – 18


Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light northerlies tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 17 – 21
