A high pressure system covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, we have a few showers about though, more details below.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, a few light morning showers for western Bay Of Plenty, Coromandel and eastern Northland. In the afternoon isolated showers develop Waikato northwards, some may be heavy with a chance of thunder then easing later. Light winds tend east to northeast, a sea breeze develops about the western coastline.
Highs: 21-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny after any morning mist or fog clears, there may be a touch of high cloud during the day. Light winds.
Highs: 20-24

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny, some coastal cloud in the morning breaks away. Perhaps a shower north of Napier in the morning also then clearing. Light winds from the southerly quarter, tending northeast later in the day.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 22-24

Marlborough & Nelson

A mix of sun and cloud, light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 22-24

Canterbury

Morning cloud clears then mostly sunny, there may be a few isolated showers about the high country in the afternoon. East to northeasterly winds freshen up after midday.
Highs: 20-26

West Coast

A mix of sun and cloud, perhaps some early fog for inland Buller. Chance of an isolated shower, mainly in the afternoon about the ranges. Light winds tend to the north.
Highs: 22-24

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny after any early low cloud or fog clears, a few afternoon clouds about the ranges, perhaps even an isolated shower about some inland hills and ranges. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 23-28
