A low brings some heavy rain into the eastern North Island today meanwhile the South Island is more settled thanks to high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, chance of an afternoon shower especially about Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. Light winds. 
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a few spits or showers, rain for the Central North Island eases later in the day. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-20

Eastern North Island
Showers for Gisborne with northeasterlies, heavy rain about Hawkes Bay eases from midday. Showers then heavy rain moves into Wairarapa during the afternoon. Thunder possible. Fresh southeasterly winds
Highs: 17-23

Wellington

Cloudy areas with a few spits or showers, rain develops in the evening with heavy falls possible. Fresh southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Marlborough & Nelson

Marlborough has cloudy spells, the odd shower possible. Nelson has brighter skies. Rain moves in for Marlborough later in the evening (possibly heavy), perhaps a few spits passing over into Nelson. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, north of Banks Peninsula cloud may continue to drift in from the northeast, the Kaikoura area may have a shower or two especially morning. East to northeasterly winds a little breezy after midday.
Highs: 16-20

West Coast

Sunny with light southeasterlies tending to the west in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-24

Southland & Otago
Sunny with light winds, afternoon east to northeast winds for coastal Otago.
Highs: 20-23
