A low pressure system west of the North Island in the Tasman Sea directs a humid easterly quarter airflow over the country today. Rain moves into Northland this afternoon then a little further south as the day progresses. Many other parts of the country see showers at certain points during the day, to find out where and when check out the forecasts below.

northeasterly winds becoming breezy.

Cloudy with areas of rain developing around midday, northeasterly winds
becoming breezy this afternoon.
Highs: 20-21

Auckland

High cloud thickening this morning with mostly cloudy skies from afternoon.
The odd shower possible from midday, showers more likely later in the evening
onwards. North to northeasterly breezes.
High: 23

Central North Island, Lake Taupo, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

High cloud thickening this morning with mostly cloudy skies from afternoon.
The odd shower possible from midday, showers more likely later in the evening

Eastern North Island

Chance of a few morning sunny spells then clouding up this afternoon with
the odd shower moving in. Northeasterly breezes.

Western North Island

Sunny spells this morning although expect increasing cloud, light winds.
The odd shower developing in the afternoon. About Taranaki expect mainly cloudy
skies and light north to northeast winds, the odd brief shower possible during
the day otherwise mainly dry, Rain moves in overnight.
Highs: 20-23

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with showers, rain for a time in the afternoon. Southerly
breezes.
Highs: 21

Nelson & Kateriteri

Light winds this morning with sunny spells, winds tend northerly in the
afternoon with increasing cloud and the odd shower then possible too.
Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Cloudy or becoming cloudy this morning, patchy rain or drizzle from
afternoon. Southeasterly breezes.
High: 21

Canterbury

Fairly cloudy skies with southeasterly breezes, drizzle patches clear in
the morning with mainly dry weather in the afternoon. Late afternoon and evening
a few isolated showers may develop about the foothills then clearing later.
Drizzle patches again overnight for some.
Highs: 19-20

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, isolated showers
develop late afternoon and evening especially about the ranges then clear before
midnight.
Highs: 21-23

Coastal Otago

Any morning drizzle clears, a few sunny spells this afternoon. Easterly
breezes.
High: 18

Central Otago
Mostly sunny
with light winds tending easterly, late afternoon and evening a few isolated
showers may develop especially in the west. Showers could become heavy with
thunderstorms then clearing before midnight

Highs: 23-24

Southland

Mostly sunny with easterly breezes, late afternoon and evening isolated
showers develop about inland western parts of Southland. Showers could become
heavy with thunderstorms then clearing before midnight.
Highs: 22-23
