Generally settled and sunny across the country today, afternoon sea breezes for many. About inland parts of the North Island especially in the east isolated afternoon showers develop some heavy with thunderstorms. Showers or rain also affect Fiordland, Southland and Otago for a time.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny with a few clouds about, light winds and afternoon sea breezes.
Isolated showers possible late afternoon and evening, mainly about southern
parts of Auckland where one or two could be heavy.
Highs: 24-25

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Mostly sunny, light winds and afternoon sea breezes about the Bay Of
Plenty. Late afternoon and evening isolated showers, mainly about inland areas
then drifting east later in the day. A risk showers could be heavy with
thunderstorms.
Highs: 23-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny, light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Late afternoon and
evening isolated showers, mainly inland about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and
Gisborne with possible heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island

Light northwesterlies with sunny spells after any early showers clear,
westerly breezes in the afternoon with mainly sunny skies.
Highs: 21-24

Wellington

Sunny with northerly breezes, brisk at times from afternoon.
High: 21

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon northerly breezes.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds in the morning, north to northwest breezes pick up
in the afternoon.
Highs: 26-27

Canterbury

Morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with light southerlies in the
morning then afternoon easterly breezes.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Sunny spells with light west to southwest breezes, drizzle about Fiordland
turns to rain in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Coastal Otago

Sunny with northeasterly breezes, some high cloud from afternoon. An
evening southerly change brings a few showers.
High: 20

Central Otago

Sunny with high cloud increasing from morning, a few late evening showers
as winds tend westerly.
Highs: 20-23

Southland

Sunny with some cloud and northerly winds, the odd isolated shower possible from midday as winds tend westerly then becoming heavy in the afternoon with a risk of thunderstorms. Showers clearing later in the evening.
High: 20
