A low pressure system with it’s centre just west of Fiordland brings rain or shower to the South Island’s West Coast, thuderstorms at times too. Showers also affect Southland and perhaps into Otago in the afternoon. For Nelson and Marlborough brief early rain clears, a period of rain moves through late morning and early afternoon for much of the North Island then clears.

Auckland & Northland

Cloudy skies with a few areas of rain developing during the morning, rain
clears early PM with northerlies changing westerly. Sunny breaks then
develop.

Highs: 22

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Cloudy skies with a few areas of rain developing during the morning, rain
clears early PM with northwesterlies changing westerly. Sunny breaks then
develop.

Highs: 20-23

Eastern North Island

Morning high cloud with a few spots of rain possible, otherwise mainly dry.
Mostly sunny in the afternoon with northerly breezes.

High: 27

Western North Island

Morning rain with northerlies, clearing around midday then expect sunny
breaks in the afternoon as winds tend more northwest.

Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Brief early rain then expect sunny spells with with strong northerlies,
winds may gust to gale force at times in the afternoon.

Highs: 18-19

Nelson

Brief early rain then expect sunny spells with with brisk
northwesterlies.

Highs: 21-22

Marlborough

Brief early rain clears then mostly sunny with gusty northwesterlies,
strong in the afternoon.

High: 25

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with brisk north to northwest breezes, strong at times in the
afternoon especially inland.

High: 24

West Coast

Showers, some heavy with thunderstorms. Northerlies may be strong at times
after midday.

High: 18

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with northerly breezes, south of Dunedin winds tend southerly
in the afternoon with the chance of a shower then clearing evening.

High: 21

Central Otago

Sunny spells with northerly breezes, odd brief shower at times in the west
spreading from the west. Later in the evening winds change southerly with a few
showers.

Highs: 16-19

Southland

Sunny with some cloud, light northerly breezes. Late morning or around
midday winds tend southerly with showers, a few may be heavy then clearing later
in the evening.

High: 19
