A weak ridge lies over the country today bringing generally settled weather. There is still plenty of cloud about however, especially in the east of both islands and the south of the North Island.
Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes, low risk of a brief morning light shower about western coastlines.
Highs: 21-22
Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon. Chance of a late afternoon and early evening isolated shower (mainly inland) however remaining dry for the most part.

Central North Island & Waikato
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southerly, cloud a little more frequent in the afternoon about eastern Waikato with the risk of a late afternoon isolated shower otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 22-23
Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy skies, the odd shower (mainly morning). South to southwesterly breezes die out around midnight.
Highs: 19-21
Taranaki
Mostly sunny with southerly breezes, some cloud about southern coastal parts of Taranaki.
Highs: 21-22
Western North Island
Early cloud breaks to sunny spells, south to southwest breezes die out in the evening.
Highs: 20-21
Wellington
Morning drizzle clears, sunny spells in the afternoon with southerly breezes easing. Winds tend northerly around midnight.
Highs: 16-17
Nelson
Sunny spells with light winds tending northeasterly in the afternoon.
High: 19
Marlborough
Cloudy spells in the morning however sunny breaks develop in the afternoon as southerlies tend northerly.
Highs: 20-21
Canterbury
Morning drizzle clears then expect fairly cloudy skies for much of the day near the coast especially north of Banks Peninsula, winds will be brisk from the northeast. Inland a few sunny areas develop from midday.

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light winds, some cloud develops from afternoon as winds tend northerly. Chance of a light shower overnight.
Highs: 18-19
Coastal Otago
Morning drizzle clears, cloudy periods for much of the day with a few sunny spells in the afternoon. Brisk northeasterly winds.
High: 15
Central Otago
Morning cloud breaking to sunny spells with northerly winds developing. High cloud thickens in the afternoon, a brief spot of rain possible in the evening otherwise remaining fairly dry.
High: 22-23
Southland
Sunny spells with easterly breezes, a few brief spells of rain late afternoon and evening with thick high cloud moving in as winds tend northerly.
High: 18
