A gentle west to southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, generally settled weather for most especially out east. The odd shower may affect western regions, namely the South Island’s West Coast.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells with southwesterly breezes brisk about Auckland, chance of the odd brief shower at times about Auckland moving in from the west. Southwesterlies ease later in the evening.
Highs: 17-18

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny with west to southwest breezes, a few clouds about mainly for the Central North Island and Waikato.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with southerly breezes tending easterly during the afternoon, a few minor clouds about during the day.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island
Sunny spells with west to southwest breezes picking up in the afternoon becoming brisk. Cloud thickens later in the evening.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington
Sunny after any early cloud clears, southerly breezes tend northerly during the morning. Overnight winds flick round to the south again with some cloud.
High: 16

Nelson
Sunny with light southwesterlies tending northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Marlborough
Sunny with light winds, northerlies develop around midday. Overnight winds change southerly with some cloud possible.
High: 19

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending easterly in the afternoon, some high cloud possible. Later in the evening a southwest change develops bringing cloudy areas.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast
Cloudy periods with west to southwest breezes, the odd shower at times.
High: 14

Coastal Otago
Sunny with some increasing high cloud, northwesterly winds develop during the morning. Mid afternoon winds change southwest with cloudy areas and the chance of a shower.
Highs: 17-18

Central Otago
Mostly sunny with westerly breezes, a change to southwesterlies in the afternoon brings a few clouds and the low risk of a shower or two.
Highs: 15-16

Southland
High cloud with freshening northwesterly winds, a midday southwest change brings the odd shower which clears in the evening.
Highs: 14-15
