High pressure will overspread the country this weekend, setting us up for some very settled weather. The sunniest spots with the lightest winds will be found on the western sections of both islands as well as Central Otago and Southland.
There will be a few chances for showers about East Cape/Gisborne during the afternoon today and lasting into tomorrow afternoon. A few showers will also be possible about the northern tip of the North Island this morning and this afternoon.
Otherwise, the rest of the country looks dry.
Upper North Island- Mainly cloudy for Northland with a few showers possible this morning and this afternoon. Sunshine will peek out early today then increase for this afternoon. Mainly sunny skies for the rest of the upper half of the island. Moderate easterlies. Highs 20-25.
Lower North Island- Mainly sunny skies with a few clouds for most areas. Look for increasing clouds about East Cape/Gisborne with a few showers possible this afternoon and evening. Highs in the mid 20’s for most areas with lower 20’s expected for Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Upper South Island- Mainly sunny skies with a few clouds. Highs 20-25.
Lower South Island- Mainly sunny skies with a few clouds. Highs in the mid to upper 20’s with a few lower 30’s possible about Central Otago.
