An anticyclone lies across the South Island today bringing mainly settled weather, a weak southeasterly airflow over the North Island bring a few showers in the east / northeast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud breaks to sunny weather and some high cloud. A few showers about eastern Coromandel Peninsula, Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland at times. Light SE winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
High cloud, sun breaks through at times, more so from afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

A fairly cloudy day, the odd shower a times but periods of dry also. Southerly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington

Mostly cloudy, the odd shower. Cool southerlies.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny. Afternoon easterlies for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, any morning cloud breaks away. Light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast

A mainly sunny day with any morning coastal cloud breaking away, light winds.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Some coastal cloud for Southland, mostly sunny elsewhere. A frosty start away from the coast. Light winds.
Highs: 10-14
