A ridge hangs over the North Island today, expect a northerly airflow further south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny for Waikato and Bay Of Plenty, Auckland northwards sees some cloud at times. The odd shower about Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland clears in the evening. Easterly winds, tending northerly in the afternoon about Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 22-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mostly sunny day with some high cloud from afternoon, light winds.
Highs: 19-25

Eastern North Island

A mostly sunny day about Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay has some morning cloud then mostly sunny. Gisborne has a fairly cloudy day with the odd shower, clearing in the afternoon then cloud breaking in the evening. East to northeasterly winds for most, southeasterlies for Gisborne.

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northerly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-26

Canterbury

High cloud and some sun at times, light northerlies tend northeast near the coast in the afternoon.
Highs: 23-27

West Coast

Sunny areas and thickening cloud for North Westland, South Westland has mostly cloudy skies with rain about Fiordland. Showers spread into South Westland overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs:19-23

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, late evening / overnight rain. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-24
