Mostly cloudy, the odd shower about Taranaki and Kapiti spreads elsewhere in the evening. Northwesterly winds.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-27

Wellington
Cloudy areas, overnight patchy rain. Blustery north to northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
High cloud with sun breaking through at times, spits of rain may push over into Nelson from the west now and then. Rain becoming more persistent / widespread overnight. Blustery north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Canterbury
Morning high cloud may bring a spot of rain then mostly sunny, breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

West Coast
Rain with heavy falls then gradually easing from afternoon as northerlies tend northwest.
Highs: 15-17

Southland & Otago
Morning rain for Southland and Central Otago then the odd shower and sunny spells from midday as northwest winds change westerly. Coastal Otago sees showers develop in the afternoon as light winds change southwest.
Highs: 14-19
