A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today with a front moving onto the lower South Island later this evening / overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, especially from afternoon. The Bay Of Plenty has a mainly dry day with more frequent areas of sun. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a few showers, south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island
A dry morning with some sun possible then cloud thickens up in the afternoon with a few showers moving in, showers more likely by evening. Southwesterlies, picking up after midday.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, a few showers mainly morning. Southerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
A few morning showers then afternoon sunny spells, southwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury
Morning showers (mainly coastal) then some sun starts to break through from afternoon. Southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 10-13

West Coast
Sunny spells about South Westland, cloudier further north with the risk of a shower or two. Becoming mostly cloudy in the evening for most with a few showers moving into most areas, rain pushes through overnight as southwesterlies freshen.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Morning showers clear coastal Otago then sun develops from afternoon, early cloud breaks to increasing sun elsewhere. Winds are light then overnight a southwest change moves in bringing rain.
Highs: 10-13
