Some slight ridging for the South Island this morning brings settled conditions to start then this weakens from afternoon, a frontal feature passes over the North Island in the morning.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain then easing to a few showers and sunny spells, most showers having cleared by evening. Overnight or perhaps more towards dawn on Sunday showers move back into western areas. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain then sunny areas develop in the afternoon, winds from the west or southwest. Overnight further rain moves into Taranaki.
Highs: 20-23

Eastern North Island
Occasional showers, some may be heavy then easing from afternoon and clearing by evening. Overnight rain may move into Wairarapa. Light winds.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington
Early rain clears then sunny spells increase, rain picks up again later in the evening. Southerly winds.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson
Any early cloud clears then expect sunny weather with east to northeast winds in the afternoon. Showers move into Marlborough during the evening with southeasterly winds increasing.
Highs: 19-23

Canterbury
Mostly sunny however near the coast expect some cloud and a shower or two, cloud thickens for most in the afternoon with showers spreading inland as light winds tend easterly. Later in the evening or overnight winds tend southerly with widespread rain moving in.
Highs: 16-18

West Coast
Mostly sunny with west to southwesterly winds although expect a shower or two for Fiordland. Later in the evening southerlies freshen and there may be some cloud and a few showers overnight for most.
Highs: 17-20

Southland & Otago
Sunny spells or perhaps even mostly sunny, a shower or two developing from afternoon as light winds tend to the south.
Highs: 15-17
