A band of rain lies over the upper North Island today while a weak high east of the South Island directs and easterly quarter airflow over the rest of New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas with rain or showers around Northland and may brush Auckland. Mild in Northland with overnight lows closer to 20 degrees, chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Sunny and dry in BOP and Waikato. Light winds from the west.
Highs: 18-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with light SE winds. Warmest around New Plymouth.
Highs: 13-18

Eastern North Island
A mix of sun and cloud, potentially a lingering isolated shower. Light SE winds fading.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
A few clouds otherwise fairly sunny with light winds from the South East.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly Sunny with light winds. Warmest in Nelson.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury
Mainly sunny, light winds fading from the southerly quarter.
Highs: 12 or 13

West Coast
Areas of cloud with the chance of a shower or two, many long dry areas also. Light winds drifting from the east.
Highs: 17-18

Southland & Otago
Frosty at first then mainly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 11 to 13
