Upper North Island

Areas of cloud and some sun, isolated showers may develop in the afternoon about Northland, also western Waikato. Showers about western Waikato may become heavy with thunderstorms then clearing at night. Winds from northeast. Temperatures in the mid twenties.

Lower North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, isolated showers develop this afternoon about inland hills and ranges some becoming heavy with thunderstorms then clearing at night. Winds mostly from the north or northeast. Temperatures reaching into the mid twenties.

Upper South Island

Rain, possibly heavy about Tasman and Nelson eases this morning to showers, winds from the north or northeast. Early rain clears Marlborough then sunny areas develop, north to northwest winds. Morning drizzle clears Canterbury then sunny spells develop, the West Coast has patchy showers or drizzle for much of today, north to northeast winds. High’s in the low to mid twenties.

Lower South Island

Cloudy areas about Otago, some sun may break through this afternoon. Southland has mainly sunny conditions. Winds from the northeast, brisk about the Otago coastline. Temperatures in the mid to high twenties, low twenties or maybe even high teens about coastal Otago.
