A gusty west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a front within this flow moves off the upper South Island this morning then over the North Island from midday.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Quite cloudy with a few showers developing. Northwesterlies change west to southwest late afternoon.
Highs: 16-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers develop in the morning, clearing by evening. Fresh west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-16

Eastern North Island
Thickening high cloud, might be a shower otherwise dry. Skies clearing up in the evening. Increasing west to northwesterly winds then easing later in the day.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Cloudy and sunny spells. Gusty north to northwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny about Marlborough, Nelson sees sunny spells with any early showers clearing then rain moves in overnight. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, chance spot of rain overnight (heavy rain with possible thunderstorms overnight about the high country). Northwesterly winds picking up in the afternoon, gusty inland.
High: 17

West Coast
Showers turning to rain during the afternoon, becoming heavy from evening with possible thunderstorms. Freshening west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud, chance spot of rain in the evening. Breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-14
