Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, chance of a shower or two from afternoon otherwise dry. Later in the evening expect a greater chance of showers then some overnight rain. Brisk to strong WNW winds.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny weather with high cloud increasing from afternoon, northwesterly winds gusty at times after midday. Overnight winds change southwest with a few showers.

Wellington
Sunny spells and increasing cloud, a few showers from afternoon which clear around midnight. Strong northwesterly winds.
High: 16
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and high cloud, north to northwesterly winds becoming gusty by midday. Chance of a late afternoon or evening shower otherwise dry. High cloud breaks away overnight with winds becoming light.

Canterbury
A sunny morning with north to northwesterly winds (gusty inland) then an early afternoon southerly change brings a few showers which clear in the evening. Showers may be heavy south of Banks Peninsula (mainly nearer the coast) with a low chance of thunderstorms and hail, easing overnight.

West Coast
Rain about South Westland spreads into North Westland during the morning, possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing to showers in the afternoon with a southwest change. Showers mostly clearing in the evening.
Highs: 14-15
Southland & Otago
Early rain eases to showers, some may be heavy at times with small hail. Perhaps even a few snow flurries to 600m later in the day about Southland. Showers clear in the evening for Otago. Brisk to strong westerly winds.
