A trough brings a few showers Auckland southwards today, showers more persistent at times in the east about the likes of Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel. For the South Island conditions are mainly calm and settled, for a more in depth look check out your region in the forecasts below.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas with the odd shower about, more persistent falls about Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel. Northland has sunny areas for much of the day. Winds mainly light, tending southwesterly as the day goes on.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas with the odd shower about but long dry periods too, light winds in the morning then gradually tending westerly during the afternoon and evening.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny conditions, perhaps a little high cloud. Light winds tend northerly.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Sunny with light northerly winds, some cloud from afternoon.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds, any early cloud clears.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, light winds.
Highs: 10-11

West Coast

Morning cloud may bring a shower or two then cloud breaking away in the afternoon, winds light mainly from the westerly quarter. Overnight rain moves into Fiordland.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds, cloud increases in the evening. Overnight rain moves into Southland reaching Otago around dawn on Sunday.
Highs: 8-10
