A northwesterly airflow lies over the country today, mostly sunny for the North Island and the east of the South Island. Showers or rain for the West Coast of the South Island and coastal Southland at times.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some cloud for Auckland and western Northland, mostly sunny about eastern Northland, Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some cloud with westerly winds, cloud less frequent the further inland you go.
Highs: 16-18

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with west to northwesterly winds.
High: 20

Wellington

Mostly sunny with brisk northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with breezy to brisk northwesterly winds.
High: 17-21

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds gusty at times especially inland.
High: 19

West Coast

Cloudy with periods of rain, there may be a few thunderstorms about too. Only showers for about Greymouth northwards then rain setting in there late afternoon or evening. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 16

Southland & Otago

Gusty northwesterly winds, a few showers at times about coastal Southland and west of about Queenstown in Central Otago. Mostly sunny elsewhere with some high cloud.
Highs: 14-18
