A front moves onto the lower North Island this morning then slowly works its way northwards bringing a few showers. The South Island is sunny in the east, a few early showers clear in the north then sunny. The West Coast has areas of cloud, showers about Fiordland turn to rain this afternoon then gradually spreading northwards.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny areas and some cloud with northwesterlies, a few showers about, highest risk in the PM, then clearing overnight. Some areas may remain dry as showers pass over as they will be isolated in nature.

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some cloud, light north to northwesterly winds. Chance of a
late evening / overnight shower.
High: 25

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny areas and increasing cloud this morning, northwesterly winds. A few
showers develop mid to late morning then clear latre this afternoon or evening as winds gradually
tend southwest.
Highs: 24-27

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with northerly winds, some high cloud. About the Wairarapa
expect some cloud and a few spells of rain which ease this morning then clearing
this afternoon.
Highs: 24-29

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with increasing northerlies, a few showers move in late
morning then clearing some time this afternoon with winds changing
southwesterly.
High: 23

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy this morning with a few patchy showers moving in by midday
then clearing by evening, westerly winds from midday.
High: 24-25

Wellington

A few spells of rain this morning then clearing to mostly sunny weather,
north to northwesterly winds becoming gusty this afternoon.
High: 22

Nelson

Any early morning rain clears then mostly sunny, north to northwesterly
winds.
High: 26

Marlborough

Early morning rain clears then becoming sunny, breezy northwesterly winds.
Northwesterlies strong about the outer Sounds.

Canterbury

Sunny with some high cloud, northwesterlies for inland areas (breezy at
times afternoon onwards) and light winds near the coast. Northwesterlies break
through to the coast late afternoon / evening.

West Coast

Sunny or becoming sunny this morning for most, westerly winds. Cloud and
showers about Fiordland however turning to rain this afternoon. Rain heavy by
evening with a few showers then spreading northwards, rain moves into North
Westland overnight.

Coastal Otago

Becoming mostly sunny this morning, north to northeasterly winds. A few
late evening showers possible.
High: 24

Central Otago

Sunny areas and high cloud, cloud thickens from this afternoon with a few
spots of rain possible mainly west of the Southern Lakes area. Rain more likely
this evening then clearing overnight. Northwesterlies increase this
afternoon.
Highs: 24-26

Southland

Mostly sunny this morning, areas of cloud increase from afternoon with
northwesterly winds becoming gusty. Some evening rain.
High: 24
