A ridge over most of the country brings mainly settled weather today after a cool start, some high cloud across much of the South Island. A few morning showers clear the North Island’s east coast.

Northland

Mostly sunny with southeasterly winds, some cloud with the chance of a shower along the east coast clearing in the morning.

Highs: 17-18

Auckland

Sunny with light southeasterlies.

High: 16-17

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with southeasterlies easing during the day.

High: 16

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny with light winds.

Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny about Napier and southwards with any early cloud clearing,
light northeasterlies. Further north expect a cloudy start with the chance of a
shower then clearing, sunny spells develop by midday, southeasterly winds.

Highs: 14-15

Western North Island

Sunny with light winds, chance of some evening cloud.

High: 15

Wellington

Mostly sunny with northerly winds, some evening cloud with northerlies
becoming breezy.

High: 14

Nelson

Mainly sunny with light winds, a few areas of high cloud.

High: 14

Marlborough

Mainly sunny with light winds, a few areas of high cloud.

Highs: 14-15

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with any early low cloud or fog breaking, light winds tend
northeast near the coast and northerly inland. A few areas of high cloud,
thickening overnight.

Highs: 12-13

West Coast

Sunny spells at first, cloud increases from afternoon. Light
northeasterlies. Drizzle about Fiordland from afternoon then rain later in the
evening.

High: 14

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, light northeasterlies.

Highs: 13

Central Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, north to northwesterly winds. Rain
moves in overnight west of the Southern Lakes area, a few spits may fall further
east.

Highs: 9-11

Southland

Thick high cloud with northerly winds, spits of rain from later in the
evening.

High: 13
