A ridge covers the country today extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea, a front moving over the South Island this morning quickly weakens delivering no more then some cloud north of Otago. The North Island has a largely sunny and settled day, some cloud increases in the west from afternoon.
Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells and some increasing cloud from afternoon, southwesterly winds. Risk of a light shower or two from evening, mainly in the west.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny spells with light southwesterly winds, there may be a patch of
overnight fog about inland areas. The Bay Of Plenty will likely have clear sunny
skies all day.

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds.

Western North Island
Sunny spells with light northwesterlies. About Taranaki expect
southwesterly winds with sunny spells too, cloud increases in the
afternoon.
Mostly sunny with northerly winds.
Sunny with light southwesterlies.
Sunny with light winds, perhaps tending easterly in the afternoon near the
coast.
Sunny spells with light southwesterlies tending northeast in the
afternoon.
Cloudy periods with light west to southwest winds, the odd brief light
shower possible at times otherwise dry. South of Haast expect showers with
westerly winds.
Morning showers clear then sunny spells develop afternoon, morning
southwesterlies tend PM northeast breezes.

A few early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, westerly winds. Cloud
thickens again overnight.
