High pressure is spreading in across New Zealand from the southern Tasman Sea and will cross the South Island this weekend.
The airflow around the north of this system means a few showers do still remain in the north of NZ and perhaps a couple of showers on the West Coast too (where it’s becoming very dry lately, so any wet weather should be welcome there).
The dry weather over the South Island isn’t yet leading to drought but conditions are drier than average for many in the south – quite the different set up to those in the north after plenty of wet weather days so far this month.

Are we still looking likely to get remnants of that cyclone next week thursday onwards?
