A 25% drop in humidity and 3 degree drop in the temperature is all it’s taken to bring a refreshing change to Auckland and northern New Zealand this morning.
Before midnight muggy conditions remained but, as predicted by WeatherWatch, a cooler and strengthening south to south west wind has moved in pushing the humid weather away.
The humidex temperature in Auckland this morning says it ‘feels like’ 21 degrees. This time yesterday it was around 28.
In Wellington it’s much cooler with just 14 this hour, while most other centres are around the 17 to 19 degree mark.
It’s certainly refreshing in the South Island with Christchurch on 10 degrees and Timaru on just 8. It gets even colder further south with Queenstown on just 3 degrees this hour.
Invercargill has 14 degrees and showers from a low south of the country.
Meanwhile ex-tropical cyclone Rene will today clear the north east of New Zealand and move out into the Pacific Ocean and fade away.
