The highest 1.5km of Auckland’s highest road, Scenic Drive (380 to 405 metres above sea level), looking a little white on the morning of Monday 25th July 2011. This was the result of regular sleet falls during the morning, and in fact at dawn it was a lot whiter than this. Wasn’t quite falling as snow, but not regular hail either. Sleet is very rare in and around Auckland / Geoff Blackmore

Here in Queenstown it is snowing still… I live in Dalefield and there is 7cm of snow in my yard and the driveway is deeper. I a pen in the snow to c how deep and it came up 3/4 of the pen. Will not go into work today am not good in driving in snow / Periena Martin

And yet not one speck of snow here in Ashburton, we had a lovely day of sunshine and lots of green grass. Weird how that happens.

We got the tail end of this in New Lynn. Sleet on the roof for very short time. Since warmed up, Monarch female butterfly flew off late this morning.

was out feeding the horses at around 1:30 this afternoon and the temp dropped and in came the sleet, not much but made its presence felt. We live about half way up Christian Road in the Waitaks
