RainWatch – Wintry cold southwesterlies bring showers in the west

> From the WeatherWatch archives

As in the title wintry cold southwesterlies bring showers to western parts of the country today, in saying this expect a few showers this morning about the eastern South Island then this afternoon for the east coast of the North Island. Showers for the North Island may be heavy at times with hail, perhaps even thunder (especially in the west) then gradually easing from afternoon.

Cold southwesterlies continue to bring showers to western parts of the country on Thursday, also about the far south. Southwesterlies freshening about Canterbury in the morning may bring a few showers then clearing in the afternoon.

A few showers about western and southern parts of the country on Friday, mainly dry in the east.
