A ridge of high pressure brings mainly settled and hot weather to New Zealand today.

Conditions over the North Island are quite dry today, just the chance of a light shower this morning about some southwestern regions (from Taranaki through to Kapiti). Also later this afternoon there may be isolated showers develop about Northland, some of these could become heavy then clearing later this evening.

Rain for South Westland eases to showers this afternoon, becoming fairly patchy this evening. About Southland a few showers move in this morning then starting to dry out from afternoon. Otago is mainly dry this morning then a few showers move in this afternoon, clearing this evening.

Elsewhere around the country is looking mainly dry.
