A low pressure system affects the North Island today while a ridge of high pressure brings settled weather to the South Island.

North Island

A few showers possible at times for Auckland and the Waikato today, the Bay Of Plenty has a higher chance. Rain for Gisborne and Hawkes Bay with heavy falls possible, easing in the evening. The odd shower for the Wairarapa, clearing in the evening. Any early showers in the west (Taranaki through to Kapiti) clear.

South Island

A few spots of rain possible late afternoon / evening about Southland and Otago. Mainly dry for the rest of the South Island otherwise.
