RainWatch: Sunday’s 12 hour rainfall

Mainly dry weather for the North Island today, this evening a few showers move into the southwestern corner (Taranaki through to Kapiti) then overnight a few showers reach up to Auckland in the west.

Rain aboout Fiordland spreads northwards reaching into North Westland this afternoon. Rain eases for all areas on the West Coast this evening with long dry spells developing, overnight rain moves back into Fiordland. Mainly dry for the upper South Island, a few showers reach into Nelson this evening and perhaps Marlborough for a time. South of Banks Peninsula in the east there may be a few spots of rain early this morning then mainly dry. Southland has occasional showers or spits of rain then overnight rain is more likely as a front closes in.
