A front slowly pushes northwards over the South Island today meanwhile a westerly airflow lies over the North Island, moving around a large high in the Tasman Sea.

North Island
Mainly dry for the North Island today, there may be a light shower or two this morning in the west from Waikato through to Kapiti otherwise mainly dry.

South Island
Showers today for the West Coast, heavy rain about South Westland (especially Fiordland) then gradually easing from afternoon. Showers moving into South Canterbury late afternoon then moving further north in the evening.

Rain for Southland and Otago, possibly heavy then easing and clearing in the evening.”
