RainWatch – Showers in the west and far south today

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Showers for western parts of the country today with morning thunderstorms possible for the West Coast, showers ease this afternoon. The east coast is mainly dry however Southland then Otago gets some shower activity (possibly heavy) this afternoon then clearing away in the evening.

This coming weekend is full of strong westerly quarter winds, fronts and heavy rain for western regions. This is especially true as we move into late Saturday / overnight and into Sunday. The airflow becomes very cold from the southwest on Monday.
