An anticyclone lies over the North Island today, northwesterlies build further south then a front moves onto the lower South Island later this evening or overnight.

North Island
Dry weather for the North Island today.

South Island
The odd shower for South Westland, becoming more persistent from afternoon then rain with a chance of heavy falls develops in the evening. Showers move in later this evening or overnight into North Westland.

Later this evening or overnight rain moves into Southland with a southwest change.
