RainWatch – Mainly dry for most, rain builds in the southwest

Dry for most of the North Island today, there could be a few early clearing showers for the Gisborne coast. A northwesterly airflow strengthens over the South Island bringing rain into South Westland with heavy falls, especially later today then this rain moves northwards overnight. Rain moves into Southland this evening then brief rain for Otago overnight.

Rain for the West Coast of the South Island eases to showers in the morning on Saturday, rain pushes back into North Westland / Buller in the evening. Dry for most of the North Island however expect the odd shower Taranaki southwards from afternoon. Mainly dry for eastern regions however Mid Canterbury northwards in the east sees some rain overnight pushing in from the west.
