An anticyclone covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, some instability this afternoon / evening about the Bay Of Plenty and East Cape however.

North Island
Isolated showers developing this afternoon for the Bay Of Plenty and across to East Cape. Showers may become heavy with thunderstorms then easing this evening. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about some inland parts of the lower western North Island. Showers easing and dry spells increasing from afternoon along the east coast (mainly about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne), conditions mainly dry by evening.

South Island
Chance of an early drizzle patch about Canterbury then mainly dry. Showers move into Fiordland this evening then a few spots of rain spread into Southland / Otago overnight.
