> From the WeatherWatch archives

Weak high pressure lies over the South Island today while a front draped over the North Island weakens today.

For the upper North Island we see early rain ease to the odd patchy shower this morning, this will continue for most of today with dry spells becoming more frequent for some from afternoon. About the lower North Island in the west expect the odd shower, showers may become heavy in pockets this afternoon then easing this evening. Kapiti and Wellington stay mainly dry.

The east coast of the North Island is mainly dry although there is the risk of a shower or two. Showers are likely about Wairarapa this afternoon especially about inland hills / ranges then clearing this evening.

The upper South Island is mainly dry today, low risk of an isolated shower about inland hills and ranges this afternoon / evening. For the lower South Island early morning showers clear in the east then mainly dry.
