Dry for most of the North Island today, any early morning showers about Gisborne clear. Drizzle or the odd light shower about southern Fiordland spreads a little further northwards overnight, dry for the rest of the South Island.
Rain moves into the lower South Island and about South Westland on Wednesday, rain pushes northwards overnight reaching to about Banks Peninsula. Mainly dry for the North Island, a light shower or two may move in to the west Taranaki southwards.
The odd light shower for the western North Island on Thursday, turning to rain about the lower North Island mid afternoon onwards as a southerly change pushes in.
Rain for the upper South Island eases to showers in the evening then clearing overnight, the odd shower may remain about eastern coastal fringe areas however. Southland and Otago sees the odd shower during the day with cool southwesterlies.
