Rain showers over central New Zealand this morning are associated with a frontal boundary that will try to head north today.  However the boundary is expected to fall apart.  So, the showers are likely to remain over the lower North Island.

Tomorrow, a low currently over the Tasman will move closer to the upper North Island.  That will likely bring showers to Northland, Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula and the western Bay of Plenty during the morning.

Tomorrow evening, showers will be possible as far south as a line from Taranaki to Gisborne.  Moderate to briefly heavy falls are possible about the Bay of Plenty and eastern Waikato late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
