Heavy rain is on the way for dry, near drought, farms in the Nelson region.
The crown forecaster has tooday issued a rain warning for the region and Westland.
Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Western ranges of Nelson Rain is expected to spread over the Nelson region this afternoon and become heavy tonight. Rain should ease Friday afternoon. In the 24 hours from 6pm Thursday to 6pm Friday expect 100 to 150mm rain. The heaviest falls during Friday morning may reach 20mm per hour. During this time 40 to 60mm rain is likely over the lowlands of Tasman Bay.
Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Westland Rain is expected to spread over Westland tonight, and become heavier during Friday morning. In the 18 hours from 6am to midnight Friday expect 60 to 100mm but 140mm possible about the ranges. The heaviest falls are likely to be during Friday afternoon and evening with rainfalls rates of 25mm per hour possible in the ranges.
