Rain heading towards dry regions tonight…will it be enough?

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Rain is tonight nearing drought stricken North Island regions reports WeatherWatch.co.nz

As of 10:30pm a few light showers were affecting the Far North and western Waikato.  A more substantial rain band remains a couple of hundred kilometres offshore to the west.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says localised downpours will be heavy and could be helpful top up to empty rain tanks and dry farms, however the forecasting website says not all areas will see heavy rain.

The rain band, as of 10:30pm, was considerably fractured meaning rain won’t be widespread overnight and some areas may miss out.

WeatherWatch.co.nz’s 10 day Auckland forecast shows another week of dry weather on the way following this front.
