Updated 6:05pm — At least 47 people were killed in an earthquake that struck central China today, China’s state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
CNN has just reported 296 have been injured so far.
The magnitude-5.9 earthquake was centered 13kms east of Chabu and 180kms south-southeast of Lanzhou, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The quake struck at a depth of 10kms.
