Our latest poll asked the question: “How badly did the storm affect you?” – in reference to last week’s tropical low which brought rain, flooding and wind damage to many parts of the country.
Roads were closed, power was cut, and buildings were evacuated, and it seems as though most New Zealanders got a taste of the action in some way or another – with 34% replying “It was awful!” while a further 26% received heavy rains, at least.
There were a few isolated areas which didn’t get any bad weather – these made up around 25% of our respondents, while another 14% didn’t feel too much, but did receive some rain.
One reader, Anne, said:
“While we had atrocious winds our place escaped any damage. The local school was lucky to emerge unscathed when several large pine trees were uprooted…You guys did a fantastic job too keeping us informed.”
Keep an eye out for our new poll, coming tomorrow morning at 10!
