POLL RESULTS: Rain dancing around the country

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The results of our latest poll are back in – and by the stats, it seems as though there’s been a fair amount of rain dancing around New Zealand recently.

As Philip Duncan recently pointed out, a couple of big rainmakers are on their way across the Tasman, but not for a few days yet – he describes it as “a slow car crash”.

Sunny and hot is looking like the weather pattern in the immediate future – which will come as welcome news for those in the deep south, but less than welcome in parts of Northland and the Waikato, in particular.

When asked “How much do you need rain?” our readers responded pretty emphatically – with more than 80 percent answering in the affirmative.

Only 19.44% believe they’ve had enough recently, or are in good shape right now, which, judging by the latest soile moisture level maps, would have to be on the West Coast of the South Island, which looks fairly green at the moment!
