POLL RESULTS: NZ a nation of winter sleepers

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The results of our latest poll are back in – and an overwhelming verdict has been handed down by our readers – we as a nation, prefer winter nights for our sleeping patterns.

Perhaps this has come at the right time, as an unusually warm April for many really kicked off the winter lead-in by giving us some hotter than usual autumn nights.

Just under 70 percent of those who voted prefer to sleep during winter – but some commenters backed up their votes for the opposition by telling us why:

“I HATE sleeping in winter! First I go to bed with cold feet so I can’t get to sleep until they warm up. Then I wake up with cold ears and don’t want to get out of bed. And the weight of so many blankets in winter is oppressive too. I could carry on about the many horrid things about sleeping in winter, let’s just leave it at I’m a summer sleeper!” – J Strawbs

Keep an eye out for our next poll – coming tomorrow morning at 10!

J.Strawbs must reside in the deep south of the South Island, because it certainly doesn’t get that cold in the Northern half of the North Island. It so warm up here now that a summer duvet suffices for the whole of winter. Waimauku – NW Auckland.
