Poll Results: Kiwis have retired their heaters for the year

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The results of our latest reader poll are in – and it seems like our heaters have gone the same way as down jackets and scarves – back into the cupboard for another year.

An astonishing 78.5% of respondents said they weren’t using any form of heating at all in their homes, and a further 12% replied they were staying warm using only the natural elements.

Some comments coming through from different parts of the country largely echoed the poll results, with one commenter remarking “We have not had our heating on since September.“!!

Another reader asked “how do we get summer to slow down?” something I’m not sure will be too popular with beachgoers, although absolutely echoed by some of the farmers we’ve been hearing from.

WeatherWatch.co.nz Head Weather Analyst, Philip Duncan is predicting a somewhat wet and windy start to summer for some parts, so we may not have seen the last of the heating completely this year…although for most of NZ we have.

Remember to keep an eye out for our next poll, coming Sunday morning at 11.
