POLL RESULTS: Kiwis Gearing up for Winter

> From the WeatherWatch archives

With some wet weather over the last week, some kiwis may be thinking about the season ahead – and whether it might be time to start some winter preparations!

In light of that, we asked our readers to let us know how their plans for the middle months of the year were coming along, or whether it was still too early to let go of the warmth – in our latest poll.

Well, the results were fairly conclusive – 75% of respondents saying they’re either ready, or are about to start getting ready – whether that involves airing out the down jackets, stocking up on firewood, or planning some indoor activities for the kids on the long, cold weekends.

In saying that, a fair percentage of our readers, 24% no less, also replied that they were doing their best to hang on to what is left of summer – one commenter firmly in that camp noted:

“Still swimming most days – hope to keep it up for another month. Winter is too long to succumb to it yet! Bananas, capsicums, and even a small eggplant and a new pumpkin growing in the garden!”

Keep an eye out for our next poll, coming up Sunday afternoon – and remember you can check us out on facebook too!
